Works of Righteousness

He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we did in righteousness, but in accordance with His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, (TI 3.5 NASB.)

This begs some questions, first, who is the ‘He’ here? The previous verse tells us that ’He’ is “ God our Savior” not Jesus Christ as is preached commonly in religion.

What is a ‘work of righteousness’?   I assume that this is and act that complies with Torah.   More interesting is what it is not (like going to church  on Sunday, and certainly not acting according to our own knowledge of good and bad.

We earn His mercy by keeping His Commandments, that is following His Torah and not “nailing it to the cross”, there is no Mercy for keeping the commandments of men (either Rabbis or Pastors).

The act of regeneration is a consequence of earning His Mercy, which we do by ‘following the Way’ which leads to TRUTH.

The “Holy Spirit” is a Constantinian concept.   The reality is that it is the spiritual side of Torah, the power of the words which spoke Creation into existence,   It is the very foundation of the world as we know it,   When we keep Torah, when we follow “The Way” then we tap into Creation and the spiritual Torah engulfs us and will, if we let it, recreate us in His image and likeness’

Yah is not inaccessible, he is not “hid from our eyes” but He demands that we approach through His Gateway by following His Way no other is acceptable because no other leads to regeneration.
